M/E Engineering, now Salas O'Brien, is a MEP/FP Engineering firm based in New York State. In 2025, M/E merged with the nationally recognized Salas O’Brien, an engineering and technical services firm focused on advancing the human experience through the built environment.
M/E Engineering has 4 legacy offices located throughout New York State in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Schenectady. Our offices join 105+ Salas O’Brien locations throughout North America.
Our local team of 200+ engineers and professionals is now part of a fast-growing team of 4,850 team members nationwide!
While many of our projects are located throughout New York State, our work spans the entire Northeast coast and beyond. Post-merger, our project capacity has reached new heights as we increasingly collaborate with Salas O’Brien offices across the country- expanding our services nationwide.
We provide a full range of engineering and technical consulting services for government and private sector clients, including MEP/FP, structural and civil engineering, technology and acoustics, commissioning, energy and sustainability (including geothermal and renewables), Computational Fluids Dynamic modeling, resource efficiency, digital and automation, building envelope and science, and asset management.
We serve a variety of markets, including healthcare, education, housing, government/municipal, gaming/entertainment, hospitality, and manufacturing.
M/E Engineering was created in 1991 by 4 founding principals in Rochester, NY. Salas O’Brien was established in California in 1975, where it remains headquartered today.
